ANDREA BAKACS

Hungarian, originally from Romania, Andrea Bakacs is an editorial and fine art photographer specializing in travel, lifestyle, food, still-life, and landscapes, respectively. Andrea received her BFA from Parsons School of Design in New York City where she formally trained as a photographer. She then went on to spend several years as a Photo Editor + Photo Director for Martha Stewart Living, Everyday Food, and Seventeen magazines, as well as an Art Buyer + Producer for Wieden+Kennedy, a world renowned independent advertising agency, sharpening her eye to what inspires her the most: the duality of city and country life, culture and travel, good food and great wine, and all the amazing moments in between. Editorial clients include Esquire, The Atlantic, Bon Appetit, Afar, Budget Travel, The Financial Times, EcoDistricts, and Entrepreneur.

Andrea’s fine art work has been published in American Photography, Photo District News, The Blow Up, Colors, Dirt, among other publications, and has exhibited nationwide including both group and solo shows. Her images are influenced by both her background and overlapping interests in travel, cultural iconography, and the environment. Her continuing project, "Snow Pictures”, explores her fascination with the resonances and transformative qualities of snow over a landscape.

In her spare time Andrea likes to travel, snowboard + surf, and engage with environmental issues such as climate change and sustainability. She was selected as one of six international Earthkeeper Heroes sponsored by the Timberland Company for her role as a green photo activist and agent of environmental change. She is currently on the board of Green The Bid, an organization founded by a like minded group of commercial production industry professionals and specialists, aligned with the mission to encourage an industry shift to net carbon neutral, zero waste production practices. She is also a proud member of Women Photograph, a non profit dedicated to elevating the voices of women identifying and non-binary voices in visual journalism. Andrea currently lives and works in Portland, Oregon.

As Andrea is also a producer, she has been hired to both produce and shoot at the same time. If this is a service you’re looking for, whether you’re short on time, have a last minute assignment, or just need help figuring things out on the ground multiple time zones away, you’ve come to the right place.
